Chili Ristras and Coxsackievirus

Yesterday we drove up to Ruiodoso, NM for our yearly search for the perfect ristra to hang on our front patio. Red chilis are in such abundance in NM that they are actually used for decorative purposes... strung together and hung outside. I much prefer my red chili this way.... too hot when used with cooking. and no, we weren't with the 15,000 other people herding to see Sarah Palin in Roswell - although I have a much greater respect for hockey moms. Too bad there's no hockey in the SW) Green chili isn't too bad (not as hot as Red), and it's full of vitamin C. I'm just never sure what to put it in. All the grocery stores have buckets of green chilis with roasters outside ready to roast them for you. A very notable scent (the roasting of chilis), which everyone here equates with 'fall'. :) Last week Joshua got his second day-care illness (woohoo!!!) Only working 2 days a week, and his immune system is getting my money's worth. Came home with a fever on Wednesdsay and refusing to eat- evidently had spots on his throat and his hands.... viral Hand, Foot, Mouth disease. I think he made up for all the ounces of milk he passed up for 3 days - woke up starving twice during the night all weekend and is feeling much better. And we found out he LOVES avacado!!! mix in some bananas... mmmmm... Southwest bananas? lol
